A man pleaded guilty Thursday to conspiring with pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. to import and sell a class of drugs that treats high blood pressure, diabetes and other serious health problems.
Neil Patrickodder is facing a federal sentence of $2.3 million and being ordered to pay $2.4 million.
Investigators found that Pfizer Inc. is in violation of the Federal Trade Commission Act, which prohibits sellers of "generic and over-the-counter" drugs from making payments for marketing and sales of goods. The Act also prohibits the marketing of over-the-counter medicines and products that contain prescription-strength drugs that are not authorized for sale by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA).

A federal court jury in Philadelphia last year ordered Pfizer to pay an estimated $1.7 billion to consumers who filled out the consumer information form used by the company to ask for and receive payments on behalf of consumers.
Pfizer has paid $15.4 million to consumers for the drugs sold in the United States and the company has also paid to resolve allegations that the drug maker improperly marketed its products to Americans. The company denies wrongdoing.
Pfizer is also facing a possible $2.3 million fine and other possible penalties for illegal sales of its drugs. If convicted, Pfizer will pay a $250,000 fine and the company will pay a $250,000 fine for the company. The company is also facing a potential $2.1 million fine and another $1.4 million fine for the company.
The company faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine and a $250,000 fine for any fine that is imposed.
